Collars, vests and ID cards are not legally required and do not give you ESA rights alone without a letter from a licensed health professional. If you come across a website selling collars, vests, or ID cards beware they may be trying to scam you by saying these items will give your ESA rights. We recommend having a hard copy of your ESA letter as well as saving your ESA letter on your phone in case you are asked to present it to a landlord.
Federal law does not require Service Dogs or Emotional Support Animals to wear any type of clothing or harnesses or have any sort of ID number.
